Lights, Camera, Action! in Manila

Manila will shine once again in one hollywood movie and Filipinos are excited for it. Many are 'chasing' for it especially for the 'Bourne Legacy' lead actor, Jeremy Renner and his co-star Hollywood actress Rachel Weisz, who starred in the Hollywood movie The Mummy. The filming began on January 11 in Malate, Manila.

Proudly, some from our very own race are going to be on the cast. Madeleine Nicolas, Ermie Concepcion, Lilia Cuntapay and several more would be part of it. According to Lope ‘Jun’ Juban Jr., a Philippine producer, the reason why the film chose Philippines to be part of the movie is that they have seen the history of Philippine films and most especially the welcoming spirit of the Filipinos.

During the first day of the shooting in Malate tourist district, the head of Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is in charge of fielding crowd control personnel to guide traffic enforcers.

Covering the film’s shooting has become a regular beat for reporters just like the MMDA or the Department of Interior and Local Government, no matter if the production staff refuses to entertain them.
Security on the set remains tight and does not allow any interference from media or by-standers. Coverage is done from a safe distance.

Despite appeals by the producers to keep a distance, local media continues to trail the set of “Bourne Legacy” like it was the biggest story that ever came to Manila from Hollywood. It is not.
It is not even the first Hollywood film to shoot in the Philippines. Before “Bourne Legacy,” the country had served as location for the films “Apocalypse Now,” “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Platoon,” etc.

Well, Philippines is really full of 'legacy' to be prouf of.
